Aureole collects no data. Nothing you do in this app is transmitted anywhere, because the app contains no networking code at all.
There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs of any kind. Aureole uses only Apple’s own frameworks and never opens a network connection.
What the app reads, and why
Aureole needs a few things from your device to show you a clock face. All of it stays on the device.
Battery level and charging state. Read so the ring and the percentage can show your charge. The most recent reading is saved in a private app group container so the Lock Screen and StandBy widget can display the same number as the app. It is never sent anywhere.
Calendar events, only if you switch on “Show next events”. Aureole reads the titles and times of upcoming events in the window you choose so it can list the next few on the face. It never creates, edits or deletes anything in your calendar, and it never stores your events — they are held in memory while the app is running and are gone when it closes.
A note on the permission: iOS offers “full access” or “write-only access” to calendars. There is no read-only option, so Aureole must request full access in order to read at all. It uses that access solely to read.
A photo, only if you choose one as a background. Aureole uses Apple’s photo picker, which runs outside the app — this means Aureole never gets access to your photo library, only to the single image you pick. That image is scaled down and saved inside the app’s own storage so it can be shown as your background.
The camera flash. The flashlight button switches the torch on and off. This requires the camera hardware, which is why iOS shows a camera permission message. Aureole never opens a capture session, never takes a photo or video, and never reads anything from the camera.
Your device model. Read so the ring can be positioned correctly around your particular iPhone’s camera housing, and so any alignment adjustment you make is remembered for that model.
Your settings. Everything you change in Customize is saved on the device using iOS’s standard preferences storage.
Where all of this is stored
Inside Aureole’s own storage on your iPhone, and in a private app group container shared only between Aureole and its own widget. No other app can read it. Nobody else can read it. It is not backed up to any service by Aureole, though it may be included in your own iPhone backups, which are yours.
Deleting your data
Delete the app. Everything above goes with it — settings, saved background photo, calendar permission, and the stored battery reading. There is nothing held anywhere else to delete, because nothing was ever sent anywhere.
You can also withdraw the calendar and camera permissions at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security, or turn off “Show next events” inside the app.
Children
Aureole collects no data from anyone, of any age.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever changes what it accesses, this page will be updated and the date at the top changed with it.
